The Ana Alvarez-Holmberg Scholarship

On September 5, 2005, Ana Alvarez-Holmberg passed away at the young age of 46. Those who had the good fortune to know Ana during her lifetime will remember her as a lady of deep commitment to the service of others. As an active member of the Minnesota Chapter of the Project Management Institute (PMI-MN) and the Twin Cities Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD-TCC), Ana distinguished herself through her commitment to both of these fine organizations.

In both PMI-MN and ASTD-TCC, she held leadership and service positions. She left her mark on these organizations through her kindness, commitment, support of others, honesty, and energy. She gave unselfishly of her time and talent in the service of the mission of the organizations and for the benefit of their members. Through her commitment to these two organizations, her family, her friends, her faith community and to the community at large, she became a model of service and volunteerism.

In order to honor Ana’s memory, the boards of directors for both PMI-MN and ASTD are cosponsoring an annual scholarship program in Ana’s name. The amount of the scholarship is $2,000 ($1,000 from each organization). It will be given annually to a deserving student who has exhibited Ana’s fine characteristics in their own lives.
